I chose to demonstrate this using the Underscores Starter Theme for WordPress because it’s actively maintained and will be kept up to date which means you won’t be learning outdated code.
This video is meant for people new to WordPress Theme Development. I will walk you through the various files, folders and give you a general sense of what the code is doing.

Developing your first WordPress theme can be a task that can take months just to get started. That’s why I created this video that will give you a tremendous head start by introducing you to a starter theme developed by the WordPress Team from Automattic.
The Underscores Starter theme provides you with the base files, folders and code you need to get started. It is also actively maintained and free to use on your projects.

Custom template tags in inc/template-tags.php that keep your templates clean and neat and prevent code duplication
Some small tweaks in inc/extras.php that can improve your theming experience.
A script at js/navigation.js that makes your menu a toggled dropdown on small screens (like your phone), ready for CSS artistry.
2 sample CSS layouts in layouts/: A sidebar on the right side of your content and a sidebar on the left side of your content.
Smartly organized starter CSS in style.css that will help you to quickly get your design off the ground.
